El Nido, officially the Municipality of El Nido (Tagalog: Bayan ng El Nido), is a town in the province of Palawan, with a population of 50,494 people as of the 2020 census. Known as one of the country’s premier travel destinations, El Nido is famous for its dramatic limestone karst formations, crystal-clear lagoons, hidden beaches, and rich marine biodiversity. It serves as the gateway to the Bacuit Archipelago, a group of stunning islands that attract tourists from around the world.

The name El Nido, which means “The Nest” in Spanish, was derived from the swiftlet bird nests found in the caves of its towering cliffs. The local economy is driven by tourism, followed by fishing and agriculture. Despite its growing popularity, El Nido continues to focus on sustainable tourism and environmental protection to preserve its breathtaking landscapes. With its world-renowned natural beauty, El Nido remains one of the crown jewels of Palawan and the Philippines.
