VICE MAYORAL CANDIDATES

Coron, officially the Municipality of Coron (Tagalog: Bayan ng Coron), is a town in the province of Palawan, with a population of 65,855 people as of the 2020 census. It is part of the Calamianes Group of Islands and occupies the eastern half of Busuanga Island, along with several other smaller islands, including the famous Coron Island.

Known for its stunning limestone cliffs, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear lakes, Coron is one of the top tourist destinations in the country. It is particularly famous for its world-class wreck diving sites, as several Japanese warships from World War II were sunk in its waters. Aside from tourism, fishing and agriculture are vital to the local economy, with the town also being a gateway to several marine sanctuaries and natural reserves. Coron is home to the indigenous Tagbanua people, who continue to preserve their traditional way of life and maintain sacred ancestral domains, including the breathtaking Kayangan and Barracuda Lakes. With its combination of natural beauty, rich history, and thriving tourism industry, Coron remains one of the most sought-after destinations in the Philippines.
