The ruling can be characterized as swift and decisive, even as Danao’s camp claims it to be an extreme case of political harassment. Filed in May in the midst of the current pandemic, the provincial board acting as an adjudication body handled it with dispatch. Within days of receiving the complaint, it voted 13-0 to administratively suspend the accused and set a timetable to resolve the cases before the end of September. The formal decision was announced a couple of days prior to its September 25 deadline, with a cut-and-dried 13-0 vote.
Presiding over the board as an adjudication body, Vice Governor Dennis Socrates also ruled that they will act next week on the complainants' motion to place Danao under "preventive suspension" as the hearing on the complaint progresses.
Danao told Palawan News the facemasks that had been acquired by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) will not be used until an investigation he ordered on its purchase is completed. Meanwhile, he also ordered the direct manufacturing by the municipality of the facemasks that they will be distributing to locals.
Danao told Palawan News he ordered the investigation after he received a written complaint from local suppliers of washable face masks for the Narra government, claiming that they could no longer supply the material to the municipality.
