The provincial board is pushing for the establishment of the separate office for the senior citizens.

In his approved resolution, Board Member Eduardo Modesto Rodriguez said that there should be a separate office that will handle the data and documents for the senior citizens to avoid duplication of the information.

Currently, senior citizen is attached to the office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

“There is really a need to establish separate office for senior citizen because currently there are only focal person taking charge for validation and updating on the list of the seniors in the entire province of Palawan. Sa ngayon ay ‘yon talaga ang kulang,” he said.

In addition, the establishment of the Provincial OSCA shall be based on Section 6 of RA 9994 including the functions of the office head, he said.

Rodriguez added that the creation of separate office will also help to improve the federation of senior citizen.

He said that the propose office intends to have an accurate data as staffs will focus on validating, delisting and updating of the list.

“Mostly, our PSWD depends on the list provided previously, so that we are proposing to have that kind of office which will only handling the data and documents for our senior citizens. This office will do the updating, delisting, validating and etcetera,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said that ordinance will be followed after the approval of the resolution.
