The Puerto Princesa City Water District (PPCWD) is optimistic its cloud seeding operations will normalize the water flow rate in the Campo Uno dam in Barangay Irawan despite the prevailing dry spell.

City water district acting information officer Jenn Rausa said 10 seeding sorties that brought rains over were already conducted since May 10 over the dam area that is the main source of water supply in Puerto Princesa.

“But after natin makaranas ng pag-ulan nitong mga nakaraang araw due to our cloud seeding operations, na-i-resume natin ang operation ng Campo Uno sa 24 hours. But still, ang water level and flowrate natin doon ay hindi pa rin bumabalik sa normal since gradual ang increase ng mga ito. Hopefully, after these cloud seeding operations ay mag-normalize na ang ating flowrate sa Campo Uno,” Rausa said to Palawan News on Thursday.

Earlier, the water firm said the average flow rate at the Campo Uno dam was pegged at 100-150 cubic meters per hour or equivalent to half a day supply operation.

“Naipabalita namin nitong mga nakaraang linggo na ang operation ng Campo Uno ay kalahating araw na lang and sa kalahating araw na ‘yon, nag-a-average ang flow rate natin doon ng around 100-150 cubic meters per hour,” she pointed out.

Rausa said they are monitoring the water level at Campo Uno after the rainfall.

The water firm has a 40- hour contract for the cloud seeding operations, she said.
