Officials from multiple government agencies met at the Palawan Provincial Capitol on March 9 to discuss a unified approach to aftercare, referral, and monitoring for former Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) of the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF).
The Round Table Discussion (RTD) aimed to improve coordination among agencies and stakeholders in providing support for the reintegration of former PDLs into society. Participants included representatives from IPPF, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Provincial Health Office (PHO). IPPF’s External Affairs Section staff and key officials, including Mr. Roque S. Dela Peña, Executive Assistant IV and Deputy for Community and Reintegration, also attended.
Discussions focused on enhancing referral systems, monitoring mechanisms, and aftercare services to ensure former PDLs receive consistent support in their transition back into the community.
BuCor Director General General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, through IPPF Superintendent C/Supt. Edgardo F. Mendoza Jr., emphasized that inter-agency collaboration and community-based programs are essential for the successful reintegration of former PDLs.
BUCOR said that the initiative reflects IPPF’s ongoing commitment to rehabilitation, supporting programs that equip former inmates with the tools and services needed for productive, law-abiding lives.
