Candle-lighting held to denounce CPP-NPA-NDF

The event also remembered the people who lost their lives, particularly in Palawan, because of the atrocities of the CPP-NPA, organizers said.

Law enforcement authorities, anti-communist groups, and civil society organizations held a candle-lighting ceremony Thursday at the City Bay Walk in Puerto Princesa to denounce the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

The event also remembered the people who lost their lives, particularly in Palawan, because of the atrocities of the CPP-NPA, organizers said.

P/Maj. Mhardie Azares, spokesperson of the Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO), said their activity was also done to honor the policemen and soldiers who sacrificed their lives on the frontlines to end the cruelty of the rebel organizations and their supporters.

Azares underscored their activity’s importance to the youth, which is said is the target for recruitment by the CPP-NPA-NDF.

Puro lang karahasan, pagsunog, at pagpatay,” he added.

City councilor Myka Mabelle Magbanua, Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) president in the city, called on the youth to resist rebel recruitment activities.

The event was also attended by the 6th Civil Relations Group, SK Federation of Puerto Princesa City, and others.
