Dead dolphin washes ashore in Pristine Beach

A 30-kilo spinner dolphin was found dead along the shore of Pristine Beach on Sunday.

Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) spokesperson Jovic Fabello said that based on a necropsy conducted by the Palawan Wildlife Rescue Conservation Center (PWRCC) on the marine mammal, it suffered from hypovolemic shock or a condition where its heart was unable to pump enough blood to the body leading to organ failure.

The test also revealed that the animal suffered from pneumonia.

Sumabog ang kanyang right lung,” he said.

He said they have already buried the dolphin in an area of the PCSD facility in Barangay Irawan.

Fabello said that it is a normal phenomenon where marine animals die and wash ashore.

The dolphin was collected from the area by the Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community ENRO and Dr. Terry Aquino.
