Provincial–municipal planning collaboration strengthens coordination in Palawan development planning

The Palawan provincial government, through the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), convened municipal planning officials on May 26, at AKC Country Homes in Puerto Princesa City to align local development plans with the province’s overall direction and strengthen coordination in project implementation.

The Provincial–Municipal Planning Collaboration gathered Municipal Planning and Development Coordinators (MPDCs) and representatives from various towns across Palawan to harmonize priorities, clarify mandates across levels of government, and integrate key programs into local and provincial investment frameworks.

“Upang isulong ang matibay na koordinasyon sa pagpaplano ng kaunlaran, matagumpay na isinagawa ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Palawan sa pamamagitan ng Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) ang Provincial–Municipal Planning Collaboration nitong Mayo 26, 2026 sa AKC Country Homes, Puerto Princesa City,” the press release stated.

Officials said the activity aimed to ensure that “iayon ang mga lokal na plano at prayoridad sa pangkalahatang direksyon ng kaunlaran ng lalawigan,” while also strengthening cooperation between the provincial government and municipalities in designing and implementing programs and projects.

During the meeting, participants discussed the division of mandates among different levels of government and identified priority programs and projects across development sectors. A workshop was also conducted to determine initiatives to be included in Local Development Investment Programs (LDIPs) and the Provincial Annual Investment Program (AIP).

Among the agreements reached were stronger coordination mechanisms between the province and municipalities, integration of provincial programs into LDIPs and AIP, and regular engagement between the PPDO and MPDOs to ensure alignment of development initiatives.

Participants underscored the importance of the initiative in ensuring that government programs respond to community needs and promote inclusive and sustainable development for all Palaweños.
