Warm conditions and rising heat index levels will continue to affect Puerto Princesa and the rest of MIMAROPA this weekend, with only isolated rain showers expected, according to PAGASA.
The weather bureau said the easterlies, or winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, are driving the current conditions, bringing a mix of sunshine, humidity and occasional localized rains.
Temperatures in Puerto Princesa are forecast to range from 21°C to 32°C, but the heat index is expected to climb to the mid- to high-30s due to high humidity, posing risks of heat cramps and exhaustion.
PAGASA representative Lorie de la Cruz Galicia said there are no active tropical cyclones being monitored within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, allowing generally stable weather conditions in the coming days.
While heavy rains were reported in parts of Luzon and Mindanao earlier, Palawan is expected to experience mostly dry weather, with possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised residents to limit outdoor activities during peak daytime hours, stay hydrated and seek shade to avoid heat-related illnesses.
Sea conditions across the MIMAROPA archipelago remain generally favorable, with no gale warnings in effect for small and large seacraft.
PAGASA continues to monitor weather systems that may affect the region as cloud formations over Luzon and Mindanao evolve.
