Van mishap leads to three-vehicle incident in PPC

A vehicular accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at KM 29, Barangay Sta. Lucia, Puerto Princesa City, involving three vehicles and resulting in property damage and injuries to some passengers and drivers.

According to a report from the Puerto Princesa City Police Office Station 3, the accident involved a Hino Freezer Van driven by Francis Tablate Rustia, 33, a resident of Barangay Alfonso, Quezon, Palawan, with passenger Rodelmar Mostiero Dela, 42, from Barangay Tiniguiban, Puerto Princesa City. The second vehicle, a Honda XRM 125 motorcycle, was driven by Federico Bungar Martinez Jr., 37, a farmer from Barangay Luzviminda, Puerto Princesa City. The third vehicle, a Rusco Multicab with a canopy, was driven by Arct Sarmiento Delos Reyes, 30, from Taytay, Palawan.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the freezer van was headed to the city from Aborlan when it lost control on the road while navigating a curve, colliding with the Honda XRM 125 and then hitting the multicab after overturning and crashing down on its rear side.

As a result of the accident, all vehicles sustained severe damage, and the passengers and drivers suffered injuries. The multicab driver is currently receiving treatment at Ace Medical Hospital for a severe fracture and dislocation of the left knee, while other injured passengers have been released after receiving care for minor injuries.

The investigation further revealed that the freezer van was speeding, and due to the slippery road conditions, the driver lost control, leading to the accident. Documents are now being processed to file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and property damage against the driver of the freezer van.
