The country may see up to two typhoons enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this November, PAGASA said Friday.
These storms, which could intensify into typhoons or even super typhoons, have been pre-designated with the names “Marse” and “Mika.”
“For the month of November, in terms of intensity, posible pa rin magkaroon tayo ng mga typhoon and super typhoon. And in particular for this year, isa hanggang dalawang bagyo po ang pwede pumasok ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), at papangalanan natin ito na Marse at Mika,” PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja announced.
Estareja noted that historical data shows November storms often make landfall across Luzon, Visayas, and Caraga, with limited chance of shifting course toward the Philippine Sea.
“Itong makakapal na linya yung tinatawag natin na average tracks o yung mga tipikal na daanan ng bagyo tuwing buwan ng Nobyembre,” Estareja said, pointing to the image of historical storm paths. “Kung titingnan natin yung ating image, madalas na ito’y nagla-landfall tuwing buwan ng Nobyembre sa Luzon, Visayas, hanggang dito po sa may Caraga Region.”
Residents are advised to stay alert and prepare for potential storms, as these could bring heavy rains, strong winds, and an elevated risk of flooding in affected areas. PAGASA urges the public to monitor official advisories as more specific forecasts become available.
