Tropical Storm ‘Enteng’ (international name: Yagi), currently situated near Batac City, Ilocos Norte, continues to affect weather conditions across parts of the Philippines.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported Tuesday morning that as of 3 a.m. today, Enteng has a maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts reaching up to 125 km/h. The storm is moving northwestward at a speed of 25 km/h.
The southwest monsoon, enhanced by Enteng, is bringing monsoon rains to Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro. Residents in these areas should brace for continuous rainfall, which may lead to flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions.
Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, the rest of Visayas can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorm activity.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Visayas, Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro, resulting in moderate to rough sea conditions. Fisherfolk and those with small sea vessels are advised to take precautionary measures and avoid venturing out to sea.
“Meron tayong moderate to heavy rains for today sa may area ng Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Region, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Northern Palawan, dahil sa epekto ng bagyo, habang meron pa ring habagat na iiral ngayong araw,” Estareja said.
The PAGASA office in Puerto Princesa City has also issued Thunderstorm Advisory No. 1, warning of moderate to heavy rain showers, measuring between 5.5 to 7.5 liters per square meter per hour. These rain showers are expected to be accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
The areas currently affected include Coron, Busuanga, Linapacan, portions of Culion, El Nido, Taytay, and San Vicente in Palawan. In Occidental Mindoro, the municipalities of Calintaan, Rizal, San Jose, and Magsaysay are also experiencing similar weather conditions.
These thunderstorms may persist for the next one to two hours and could potentially affect nearby areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against possible flash floods, landslides, and other hazards associated with severe thunderstorms.
