A total of P1.5 million items were confiscated from three apprehended commercial fishing vessels near Sombrero Island in Aborlan during the operation of the 2nd Special Operations Unit-Maritime Group (2nd SOU-MG) on Wednesday morning.

2nd SOU-MG spokesperson P/Lt. Dandy Ferriol said that their team apprehended FB Tin Tin Mark Harry 2, FB Jasper and FB Rich Alleya with 25 fishermen onboard around 3 a.m. after receiving a report of illegal fishing activity while conducting seaborne patrol.

Ferriol said that the fishing vessels could not present a permit except FB Tin Tin Mark Harry who has a permit but was still apprehended for using fine mesh net.

All fishermen onboard were from Panacan, Narra, Palawan.

The confiscated fishing vessels are currently in the custody of 2nd SOU-MG and waiting for court order while the illegally caught fish were donated to Bureau of Jail and Management Penology.

“Around P1.5 million lahat ng nakumpiska. Kasama na doon ang isda, lambat, fish finder and fishing gears. ‘Yong mga huli naman nilang isda ay idinonate na natin sa BJMP,” Ferriol said.

Individuals will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10694 section 86.
