Luigi Evangelista, field officer of the Department of Labor and Employment Office (DOLE) Palawan, said Monday that it is based on Department Order No. 209-2020, or the Guidelines for the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).
The letter, dated March 23 and addressed to Mayor Lucilo Bayron, also expressed concern that the action of city officials may have endangered the safety of the hotel staff who had interacted with the patient identified as Patient No. 4.
Benitez said Saturday to Palawan News that though dreaded as it is now a pandemic, the emergence of the coronavirus disease should be "recorded in world history" not only in mass and social media but also in artworks that live through time.
Anxiety regarding their sustained arrival was expressed by residents as rumors spread that there is already a positive COVID-19 case in their town because of the foreign vessels.
“Persons with symptoms of the virus, those who have traveled from areas with reported cases of COVID-19 and are those susceptible to sickness are advised not to attend the gathering for the time being. Bishop Mesiona has issued a special dispensation from Sunday Holy Obligation in such cases,” according to the directive.
