A formal leadership transition occurred at the Puerto Princesa City Police Office on December 16, with Police Colonel Cornelio Tadena Jr. officially taking on the role of city director.
The ceremony took place at Hinirang Hall, Police Regional Office (PRO) MIMAROPA, Camp Brigadier General Efiginio C. Navarro, located in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
Outgoing City Director Police Colonel Ronie Bacuel, who served for one year and nine months, formally relinquished his position during the event.
In his farewell message, Bacuel expressed his gratitude to Police General Rommel Francisco Marbil, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police Brigadier Gen. Roger Quesada, regional director of PRO MIMAROPA, and the people of Puerto Princesa City for their support throughout his tenure.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve Puerto Princesa City. The support of the community and our dedicated officers enabled us to achieve significant accomplishments in ensuring peace and order. I leave this office with immense pride and gratitude,” Bacuel said.
Tadena, who spent nearly three years as the Deputy City Director for Administration (DCDA), pledged to carry on the projects and activities started by Bacuel.
In addition, he pledged to support the PNP’s objective while tackling the city’s changing issues.
“As I begin this new chapter, I carry with me the experience and knowledge I gained during my previous assignment here. However, I cannot do this alone. I will need the support of the men and women of the PPCPO, our regional director, and most importantly, the people of Puerto Princesa. Together, we will ensure public safety, strengthen police-community relations, and promote a strategic vision for the future,” he stated.
The ceremony underscored a smooth transition of leadership aimed at strengthening the PPCPO’s role in maintaining peace, order, and public safety in Puerto Princesa.
Quesada and representatives from the local government, led by Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron, were also in attendance to witness the event.
Meanwhile, Police Colonel Joey Casupanan succeeded Police Colonel Carlito Narag Jr. as the officer-in-charge of the Palawan Police Provincial Office (PPPO).
Quesada expressed gratitude to the outgoing municipal and provincial directors for their steadfast commitment and encouraged the incoming officers to accept the new responsibilities they would undertake.
“Let us always remember that leadership is not just about reaching the finish line—it is about the journey, the lessons, and the legacy we leave for others to follow,” he said.
