Board Member Juan Antonio Alvarez has requested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) to expedite the relocation of electric poles affected by road widening projects.
While residents are thankful for the road project, he said many are worried that the electric posts would cause accidents to motorists during nighttime.
“The road widening has affected a big number of electric poles scattered along the national highway. It also posed danger to motorists and commuters particularly during night time travel,” he said.
PALECO spokesperson Claire Guludah said in a separate interview that they have already conducted a post-audit for the budget allocation of the relocation of the posts.
She also said that the budget will be coming from the Department of Public Works and Highways which is also in charge of the relocation of the electric posts.
“Sa side ng PALECO ay ayos na, nagawa na namin ang part namin na i-audit ang magagastos sa relocation gawa ng road widening. Ngayon ay DPWH na ang may dapat gawin kasi sila ang magpo-pondo,” she said.
