Interest-free provincial loans have begun reaching small cooperatives in Palawan, as the provincial government started releasing assistance to groups engaged in coffee farming, meat trading, transport, and agriculture in several towns.
On February 5, the Caramay Coffee Planters Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Roxas received ₱300,000 under the Livelihood Credit Assistance Program.
The El Nido Meat Marketing Cooperative is set to receive ₱200,000 on February 6.
The provincial government said further releases are scheduled on February 11 to 12, with ₱200,000 allotted to the Dumaran Sealiner Transport Cooperative and ₱500,000 to the Sofronio Española Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
The Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDC) said the program provides interest-free loans to registered and active cooperatives to support livelihood and small business activities of their members, many of whom have limited access to formal credit.
The office said the assistance is intended to help cooperatives sustain operations and expand income sources, particularly in rural and coastal areas where financing options are often limited.
The loan releases form part of the provincial government’s continuing support for the cooperative sector under the PALAWAN Plus Development Agenda.
