Six fishermen were arrested in Dumaran for illegal fishing Saturday afternoon.

Police identified the suspects as Nikki Alvarez Besera, Bernie Hereda Benedicto, Neptalie Alvarez Besera, Gerald Llamera Alcantara, Edgar Vasquez Fernandez, and Wenefred Besera Yala — all residents of Barangay Sta. Teresita, Dumaran.

They were arrested while operatives of the Dumaran police were conducting seaborne patrol operation.

The suspects were catching seahorses using “sudsod”, a type of fishnet, a police report from P/Capt. Ric Ramos of the Palawan Provincial Office (PPO) said Sunday.

The seahorses and the fishnet were confiscated from their possession.

Ramos said they will be charged for violating Dumaran’s revised fisheries code.
