The state weather bureau’s forecast early Saturday said the southwest monsoon is intensifying and is set to bring significant rainfall to Palawan, including including the Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro.
The southwest monsoon, or the prevailing “habagat,” continues to affect a large part of Luzon and the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao today, said Daniel James Villamil, a weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Residents can expect cloudy skies, he said, with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the coming days.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have fair weather conditions, but morning thunderstorms are still possible in the western section of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
By middle of next week, Villamil said weather conditions will start improving in Palawan and Occidental Mindoro.
