A long-standing communication problem in Barangay Caruray, San Vicente has been addressed following the inauguration of a new communication tower built by an Independent Tower Company (ITC) on June 8.
The project was implemented under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in partnership with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the local government of San Vicente.
With the new tower now in place, telecommunications providers Smart and Globe can install their equipment to deliver mobile signal services and improve communication access for residents in the area.
In an official statement, San Vicente Mayor Ramir Pablico said the project would bring significant benefits to the community.
“This project is a big help to the community, especially as it will strengthen connectivity and communication among residents,” Pablico said, as quoted by the San Vicente Information and Communication Section.
During the event, the DICT also distributed Bayanihan SIM cards that provide students and teachers with free 25GB of mobile data every month for one year.
Meanwhile, PLDT donated a School-in-a-Bag package to Old Caruray Elementary School. The package includes one laptop, 10 tablets, and 10 pocket Wi-Fi devices to support digital learning.
