Students of Sandoval Elementary School in Roxas got a hands-on lesson in environmental care as the LGU Roxas rolled out its Eco-Savers Program on March 18, 2026.
The initiative, led by the Roxas Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, is part of the government’s push for proper waste management under RA 9003 and a partnership with the DepEd Public Schools District.
The program, conducted in collaboration with the Katala Foundation, Inc. headed by Dr. Sabine Schoppe, encouraged students to practice waste segregation and recycling.
Recyclable items collected by students can be exchanged for school supplies such as bags, notebooks, umbrellas, raincoats, and water tumblers through a points system recorded in an Eco-Savers Passbook.
The initiative aims to turn students into active caretakers of the environment, promote clean and responsible waste management in schools and communities, and reduce overall garbage.
“Recycle, clean, and protect our environment—every small action counts toward a cleaner, greener school and community,” Sabando urged the youth to lead by example.
