The San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in the town of Roxas is calling for help after its church and nearby communities were submerged in floodwaters caused by Typhoon Tino.
Fr. Roderick Yap Caabay said yesterday in a post on social media that 24 families in Barangay Magara and 21 families in Barangay Tagumpay were affected.
He said the main needs are food and clean drinking water enough to last five days for the evacuees staying in chapels and schools.
“My parish, the San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish, Roxas, Palawan is submerged in flood as three rivers converged especially in Barangay Magara with 24 Kristiyanong Kapitbahayan & Barangay Tagumpay, with 21 Kristiyanong Kapitbahayan. Almost 90 percent of the populations are affected. We still have to account the situations of other chapel communities,” Fr. Caabay said on his social media account.
“For now, we will need food and water for the evacuees in our chapels in high grounds converted evacuations as well as in our schools. We will need food & water for the next 5 days until water subsides,” he added.
