Roxas official appeals for understanding over delayed assistance

Sabando explained that they have initially distributed 2.5 kilos of rice to residents, including personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners.

A Roxas municipal government official is appealing for understanding from the residents of the barangays who are experiencing a delay in the delivery of relief goods to their area.

Sabando explained that they have initially distributed 2.5 kilos of rice to residents, including personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners.

He said the amount used for these came from the P3 million they initially approved from the town’s calamity fund.

Sabando added that the southern barangays in Roxas have already received food assistance.

He said that they only utilized 50 percent of the calamity fund for the COVID-19, while the remaining half will be used for the other possible calamities this year.

Sabando said Roxas only has a P6 million calamity fund for 2020, which is small compared to other municipalities.

Sabando said that the households can now expect additional assistance following the approval of the realignment of P21.4 million from the development fund of the municipality.

He said that they will procure more sacks of rice, and groceries, such as noodles and sardines to distribute to around 17,000 households in 31 barangays.

In addition, Sabando reminded Roxas residents to follow protocols being implemented in line with the ECQ due to the COVID-19.
