A motorboat carrying a compressor that was allegedly used in illegal fishing was apprehended off Johnson Island in Roxas, early morning Sunday.

The motorboat was identified as Jujane owned by a certain Mary Jun Colongon and operated by Argie Serena with three other fishermen onboard, all residents of Barangay VI, Johnson Island.

According to the station, they started to conduct a maritime patrol together with the Bantay Dagat personnel, Saturday and on 5:20 A.M. they sighted the motorboat more or less 0.3 nautical miles off the island.

The team went near the boat and conducted a boarding inspection.

During the inspection they found one unit of installed compressor engine 6.5hp, one unit of improvised compressor tank, a hundred-meter hose, three improvised spear guns, three facemasks, three pairs of improvised fins, and three flashlights.

The boat was towed to Roxas port upon inspection.

The crew will be charged with violation of the R.A 10654 Ammended Fisheries Code or Roxas municipal ordinance no. 21 series of 2001 Article VII Sec 70 prohibiting the use of compressor.
