Bataraza Police Station

BATARAZA, Palawan – Security authorities here have tightened their patrol and monitoring activities around the billeting areas of the Palarong Panlalawigan 2019 delegates after an “isolated” robbery case happened prior to the opening of the sports meet on Sunday.

Bataraza municipal police chief P/Capt. Michael Von Agbisit said Monday that the robbery case happened on November 9 at the Bataraza Central School, the temporary home for the Cuyo delegation.

“‘Yong nangyari is an isolated case na nangyari bago dumating ‘yong ating mga bisita. Nakausap naman na natin ‘yong billeting officers na-advice-am ko na paki-tap naman ‘yong mga police na naka-assign. Sa nangyari nakita na ang mga lapses kaya nakapag-request tayo ng additional from the Palawan Provincial Police Office (PPPO),” he said.

Since the incident, he said they have tightened their patrolling and monitoring activities in all billeting venues for the coaches and student-athletes.

On Saturday, unidentified suspects stole cellular phones and power banks at the Bataraza Central School owned by victims Rose Ann Panople and Joseph Salamagos, both teacher-coaches, and from three student-athletes.

Agbisit said they have assigned investigators to find the suspects.
