Raven Doctor, a 19-year-old beauty queen from Palawan, is set to represent the Philippines at the Miss Eco Teen International pageant in Hurghada, Egypt, from October 24 to 31.
The Miss Eco Teen International pageant gathers youth representatives aged 16 to 19 from across the globe to compete for the crown while raising awareness of societal and environmental issues.
In May of this year, Raven represented Palawan at Miss Universe Philippines and attained a position in the Top 20.
Following her success, she was appointed as the Philippines’ representative for Miss Eco Teen International.
Raven expressed her excitement and pride about competing on the international stage, just months after bringing Palawan to national attention.
“I feel like representing the Philippines on the international stage is a different kind of excitement and happiness compared to when you compete nationally because you’re carrying the flag of the Philippines now, and that’s exactly how I feel,” she said.
“All the self-doubts I had after my previous pageant were thrown out the window the moment they offered me the Miss Eco Teen International crown. I just feel immensely grateful that they entrusted me with such an honor,” added Raven.
She also sees the international pageant as a platform to advance her advocacy, which focuses on encouraging youth to actively participate in environmental protection.
“It’s Miss Eco Teen International, so their advocacy is mainly focused on environmental preservation. Coming from a province rich in natural resources, I felt it was a great opportunity to further encourage the youth to be more aware of our environment and how they can contribute by living an eco-friendly life,” she added.
Growing up in Palawan, Doctor’s connection to nature has shaped her outlook, and she feels confident that her experiences have prepared her for the competition.
“Nature has become my first love. Growing up in Palawan, I was exposed to its natural beauty, which deepened my appreciation for the importance of protecting our environment. That’s something I’m very excited to show the Miss Eco Teen International Organization. They are looking for an ambassadress with a true passion for the environment, and as a Palaweña, I believe I can be that,” she said.
