Rainy weather is expected in parts of Palawan today, according to the state weather bureau, due to the shearline. Residents are advised to bring umbrellas when heading out.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Benison Estareja said the convergence of the cold northeast monsoon and warm easterlies is causing widespread rain over Southern Luzon and the Visayas, including Palawan.
“Magbaon ng payong at mag-ingat po sa posibleng pagbaha at pagguho ng lupa,” Estareja advised, emphasizing caution in flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, particularly in eastern Palawan.
The temperature in Palawan is expected to range between 23 and 31 degrees Celsius, with high humidity intensifying rainfall.
The shearline is expected to persist in the coming days, bringing sustained rainfall across parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Although no tropical cyclones or low-pressure areas are on the horizon, the weather disturbance is enough to trigger heavy rainfall events in vulnerable regions.
Elsewhere in Southern Luzon, the Bicol Region, Marinduque, and Romblon are also bracing for heavy rain due to the same weather system.
PAGASA reminded small sea vessels to exercise caution as moderate to rough seas are expected over the eastern coastlines of Luzon and Visayas, with waves reaching up to 3.5 meters in height.
