The state weather bureau reported on Wednesday that Palawan will continue to experience rains as the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affects the province.
“Actually, nakikita natin as of now ay inuulan itong lalawigan ng Palawan, malakas na mga pagbuhos, dahil din sa intertropical convergence zone,” forecaster Lori Dela Cruz-Galicia said in her latest bulletin.
She explained that the ITCZ is also bringing cloudy skies and rain showers in parts of Mindanao, while the easterlies are affecting the eastern sections of Luzon and the Visayas.
The bureau is also monitoring a low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
“Huling nakita ang sentro nito sa layong 1,150 km silangan yan ng Eastern Visayas. So, as of now, ay nasa labas pa ito ng ating area of responsibility but in the next 3 hours o ngayong umaga din, ay inaasahan nating papasok ito ng PAR,” Galicia said.
Based on the latest analysis, the weather system is projected to move closer and cross Northern Luzon by Friday.
“Dalawa ang posibleng senaryo na nakikita po natin dito sa low pressure area,” Galicia noted, explaining that it could either develop into a tropical depression before landfall or after crossing Luzon.
Meanwhile, heavy rains are expected in Bicol provinces such as Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon. Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the Visayas will experience localized thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon and evening. In Mindanao, scattered rains and thunderstorms are also likely due to the ITCZ.
No gale warning has been raised, with coastal waters expected to have slight to moderate conditions.
