The Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) turned to community-based activities to strengthen public trust as it marked National Women’s Month 2026 with a fun run that brought together residents, agencies, and advocacy groups on March 29.
Rather than a routine sporting event, the “TANDIKAN Fun Run with Furiends” highlighted the police force’s effort to connect with the public beyond law enforcement, using wellness, women empowerment, and responsible pet ownership as entry points for engagement.
City Director Police Colonel Cristine M. Tabdi led the activity, which featured 10-kilometer, 5-kilometer, and 3-kilometer race categories. Participants also joined warm-up exercises and a Zumba session, turning the event into a shared community experience.
A “Run with Fur” segment allowed participants to bring their pets, promoting responsible pet care while encouraging interaction among families, pet owners, and police personnel.
Police officials said the activity reflects a broader push to make the police more visible and approachable in everyday community life.
“The success of this activity reflects our shared goal to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community while promoting health, equality, and responsible care of our pets,” Tabdi said.
She added that the event shows how advocacy efforts can be translated into concrete, community-based action.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Socrates E. Faltado emphasized the importance of sustained engagement with the public, while PLTCOL Aurelio K. Cabintas reminded participants of race safety protocols. Winners across race categories, including the “Runners with Pets” segment, were recognized during the awarding ceremony.
The PPCPO said the initiative forms part of its continuing effort to build an inclusive and community-focused police service, aligned with its campaign to deliver responsive and people-centered policing.
