The Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish in Puerto Princesa City is set to complete a key phase of its restoration with the installation of new “Gloria” bells in its repaired bell tower.
The bells, donated by a benefactor, will be mounted following repair works on the structure completed in 2025 through a fundraising effort led by the Parish Finance Council, according to church officials.
“Following the repair of the bell tower through a 2025 fundraising effort led by the Parish Finance Council, the new bells has been donated by a generous donor and is now set for installation,” the parish said.
The cathedral stressed that the installation marks both a structural and symbolic milestone in the ongoing rehabilitation of the church, which has been a central place of worship in the community.
The Gloria bells are scheduled to be blessed on April 29, to be led by Bishop Socrates Mesiona, as part of the formal restoration of the cathedral’s bell tower and its traditional sound.
Church officials said the project represents not only physical rebuilding but also the renewal of a long-standing element of faith and tradition among parishioners.
