The Puerto Princesa City Police Office (PPCPO) said it will be compliant with the order of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to do daily prayers for a peaceful May 2019 midterm elections at 12 noon.
Senior Inspector Pearl Lamban-Marzo, the spokesperson of the PPCPO, said Thursday that the order from Camp Crame issued on February 7 is effective immediately.
Marzo said Supt. Ronnie Bacuel, deputy police director, will lead the daily prayer.
“Tayo as compliance natin, since ito naman ay para sa kapayapaan ng buong Pilipinas, nag-join tayo, nagsagawa tayo nitong moment of prayer natin dito sa ating opisina. Generally, ito ay about kapayapaan, although ang nag-trigger nito ay ‘yong nangyari sa Mindanao. Nationwide activity ito,” Marzo said.
The prayer movement comes after the January 27 Jolo Cathedral bombing that killed 22 people and injured 97 others.
Marzo added that the activity acknowledges “God’s transcendence over human activities as well as preparations for the coming 2019 elections.”
It also seeks to unite the people and plead for the country’s peace and security.
“Alam naman natin ‘yong history ng election dito sa atin, so ngayon, ‘yong message ng letter ay pangkalahatan na kapayapaan,” Marzo said.
