Puerto Princesa City inaugurated nearly ₱272 million worth of public infrastructure projects on Monday, adding new facilities for healthcare, education, government services and road connectivity across several barangays.
The seven projects, with a combined cost of ₱271.97 million, were formally opened by Mayor Lucilo Bayron and city officials during a series of ceremonies held in different parts of the city. The inaugurations coincided with Bayron’s 80th birthday.
Among the completed projects were a ₱29.27-million Mini City Hall at the Macarascas Rural Service Center, the commissioning of an X-ray machine at the Macarascas Satellite Clinic, and a three-storey, nine-classroom building worth ₱38.49 million at Valentin Macasaet Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Irawan.
The city government also inaugurated the ₱61.26-million concreting of the circumferential road connecting Jacana Road to Liberty-Puloy, a project expected to improve access between communities.
Also completed were the second phase of the Engineering and Architecture Building worth ₱83.71 million, the ₱9.85-million concreting of roads around the complex, and the ₱49.39-million completion of the building’s fixtures and office furniture in Barangay Sta. Monica.
Speaking during the ceremonies, Bayron said public service should not depend on special occasions but on the government’s responsibility to meet the needs of residents.
“Pinatutunayan ng araw na ito na ang serbisyo publiko ay walang pinipiling oras o panahon. Kaarawan man o karaniwang araw, ang tungkulin ng pamahalaan ay manatiling handa at laging available para sa pangangailangan ng bawat Puerto Princesan,” he said.
The newly opened facilities are expected to strengthen access to government transactions in rural communities, improve healthcare services through additional diagnostic equipment, provide more classrooms for students, and enhance road and office infrastructure supporting city operations.
City officials said the projects form part of the local government’s continuing investment in public infrastructure and service delivery across Puerto Princesa.
