The provincial board has urged netizens not to discriminate locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) in social media as carriers of coronavirus.
Board member Maria Angela Sabando, author of an approved resolution, said the LSIs and the ROFs have been the subject of social media hate simply because some of them have contracted the dangerous coronavirus disease.
“Some of them [are] spreading hate on social media to ventilate their disappointment (at) the growing number of LSIs going back to the province,” Sabando said.
Sabando said while the municipalities doing their part in attending to the LSIs and the ROFs so they could rejoin their families.
“There is no place like home and they deserve to be home. They do not deserve any discriminatory act from Palaweños residing in the province,” Board Member Sharon Abiog-Onda added.
