The Palawan Provincial Board (PB) is considering the approval of a measure that seeks to grant monthly allowances to trial court judges in Palawan.
Board Member David Francis Ponce de Leon, chair of the PB’s appropriations committee and resolution author, said the proposal will strengthen the judiciary and recognize the efforts of the judges in the disposition of cases pending before their courts.
Ponce de Leon said the proposed allowance is subject to the availability of funds.
“Depende sa pondo kung ilan ang pwede natin maibigay kaya pinag-aaralan pa sa committee. Kailangan din naman nila… kasi nga bumibiyahe rin ýan sila kung saan-saan para sa trabaho,” he said.
Based on the local government code, the provincial government is allowed to provide allowances to judges, prosecutors, teachers, and other national government officials stationed and assigned to their provinces.
