Personnel of the Provincial Tourism Promotions and Development Office (PTPDO) recently attended and underwent a geotagging seminar to that imparted to the various modern techniques of documenting tourism establishments, destinations, and development projects in Palawan.

The seminar was organized and facilitated by the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) through Filbert Paduga, Vincent Ramos, and John Paul Aguilar.

Provincial tourism officer Maribel Buñi said geotagging can help the PTPDO to collect numerous information and data on tourism assets and attractions.

“Pwede mong i-consolidate ‘yong investment areas. Hindi lang ‘yong number ng accommodation establishments ang pwede mong i-map doon, pero pwede mong tingnan kung saan ang mga investment areas,” said Buñi.

She said the seminar is the first part of their plan to also train their personnel on Geographic Information System (GIS) after completing their goal to collect photos of the different tourism products and projects.

Meanwhile, the PTPDO, El Nido local government unit, and the Bacuit El Nido Travel and Tours Association, Inc. (BENTTAI) also had its two-day training on travel and tours operations and management seminar on May 15 at the Island Front Multipurpose Building of the town.

The resource speaker was Paul Lim So, a Department of Tourism (DOT)-accredited trainer.
