CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — A Product Expo was launched at the Capitol Grounds on November 11, highlighting the celebration of the 69th Founding Anniversary of Oriental Mindoro.

The week-long expo was anchored on the theme “Atin ‘to: Oriental Mindoro Product Expo”, designed to showcase the products of various municipalities, city and industry sectors to promote the province’s products.

There were 29 booths by participating local government units, national agencies, academe, farm tourism organizations and cooperatives that offer organic commodities, organic planting and garden materials, ornamentals, fruit-bearing plants, tourism souvenirs, programs and services for technology upgrading and innovation of food products.

Provincial Tourism Officer Don Stepherson Calda said that aside from the organic products, fruits, vegetables and plants, there are also commodities that are exclusively produced in the province.

Some of the new products that were available at the expo were developed under the assistance of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Provincial Agriculture Office include Black Strap Molasses food supplement, banana tissue culture, seaweed instant noodles, bodywash and soap, nipa vinegar and coconut oil and organic livestock supplements.

The expo will run until Novemeber 14 and the awarding of Best Booth and other awards will be on November 15 during the Festival Showcase at the Oriental Mindoro National High School (OMNHS). (LC/PIAMimaropa/Calapan)
