The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm conducted a three day streamlining activity from February 4 to 6 to improve internal and external services listed under the Bureau of Corrections Citizen’s Charter.
Held at the New Conference Room of the Central Sub Colony in Iwahig, the activity aimed to review and enhance service delivery processes in line with BuCor’s commitment to efficient and transparent public service.
The activity was facilitated by the BuCor Committee on Anti Red Tape from the national headquarters and led by Deputy Director Theodore R. Perez of the Directorate for Planning and Management.
Discussions focused on updating and simplifying procedures, removing unnecessary steps, and ensuring compliance with Anti Red Tape Authority standards on processing time, documentary requirements and accountability.
Chiefs and process owners from various IPPF offices, sections and units participated in the review. They examined each internal and external service in the BuCor Citizen’s Charter, assessed existing workflows, identified redundant steps, clarified responsibilities and aligned documented procedures with actual operations.
Proposed revisions were documented for inclusion in the 2026 updated BuCor Citizen’s Charter.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., through IPPF Superintendent C/Supt. Gary A. Garcia, expressed continued support for initiatives that promote efficient and accountable service delivery in correctional facilities, including at the Iwahig Penal Colony in Puerto Princesa.
