PPCPO ramps up patrols at key tourist spots

The city police is implementing security measures to ensure the safety of residents and tourists during the summer vacation season.

In a statement yesterday, Puerto Princesa City Police Office’s (PPCPO) chief, Colonel Cornelio Tadena Jr., said they are expecting an increase in the number of visitors and will deploy additional personnel to key areas, including the international airport, the seaport, bus terminals, and popular tourist destinations—Underground River in Barangay Cabayugan and Honda Bay.

“The safety and security of every individual in Puerto Princesa are our top priority. As we welcome tourists to our beautiful city this summer, we want to ensure they experience not only the beauty of our natural attractions but also the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are in safe hands,” said Tadena.

They will also set up tourist assistance desks in coordination with the city government and tourism stakeholders, which will be placed in strategic locations to help with information about safety protocols and emergency contacts.

The PPCPO will improve traffic control operations and put policies in place to avoid accidents and ease traffic, particularly in the vicinity of tourist attractions, to handle the anticipated rise in road traffic.

It will also conduct intensified anti-criminality operations, centering on crimes like pickpocketing, robbery, and other offenses that could affect tourists. Extra patrols will be put in place, especially during busy times.

The city police will also keep reaching out to the community by giving out safety tips and spreading information about how to avoid crime, stay safe, and be a responsible tourist. People are expected to stay alert and report any behavior that seems suspicious.

To guarantee a prompt and efficient response in the event of accidents, natural catastrophes, or medical crises, the PPCPO said that it is also working in conjunction with the Department of Health and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Residents as well as visitors are strongly advised to use the following hotline numbers in order to report any events or emergencies that may occur to these numbers: TOC: Globe: 0977-855-7732 / Smart: 0998-598-5903 — Station 1: Globe: 0917-311-5746 / Smart: 0998-598-5906 — Station 2: Globe: 0927-162-4065 / Smart: 0998-598-5904 — Station 3: Globe: 0927-234-7443 / Smart: 0928-164-2913 — Station 4: Smart: 0928-200-6155 / Globe: 0995-591-6838 — Station 5: Globe: 0956-179-0083 / Smart: 0909-224-7227
