The Puerto Princesa City government is set to sign Friday a “friendship agreement” with China’s Huangshi city.

Aileen Amurao, city tourism officer, said the agreement is hoped to open avenues of cooperation between the two local governments.

“Nakatutok siya sa kung saan sila makakatulong in terms of science, technology, culture, education, and tourism. Ini-encourage dito ang active cooperation nong enterprises,” Amurao said.

Mayor Lucilo Bayron will lead signatories for the city while Huangshi mayor, Huang Qubu, and Congressman Anthony Bravo of Huangshi Hubei Province will represent the Chinese local government.

Meanwhile, Dr. James Dy, owner of the Chinese General Hospital, who will be one of the guests, offered a discounted rate for residents in his hospital as a sign of friendship.

Amurao said this friendship will help the tourism industry of Puerto Princesa, especially contributing to its economic growth.

“At the same time kung sila ay mag-i-invest sila we are open naman ngayon. Kailangan natin ng investors talaga para ma-upgrade natin ‘yong ating tourism sites and activities para mas maraming turista tayong ma-attract na pumunta dito,” she said.
