Puerto Princesa City Jail–Male Dormitory wrapped up its National Tourism Month celebration with a songwriting showcase titled Tourism Song Composition Exhibition: Himig at Kuwento, Pagpupugay sa Kulturang Palaweno during the facility’s TCMP morning meeting.
Five groups of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) presented original songs celebrating Palawan’s culture and tourism. Each composition reflected teamwork, creativity, and appreciation of local heritage.
The winning piece, a rap and hip-hop fusion, stood out with lyrics that captured the province’s identity.
Interns from Western Philippines University (WPU) and Palawan State University (PalSU) also performed during the event, adding to the collaborative spirit of the program.
The jail management said the activity aimed to develop the skills and awareness of PDLs as part of their rehabilitation. It also highlighted the role of culture and tourism in building community connections inside the facility.
