Pope Leo XIV has appointed Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Marcelino Maralit, and Ryan Jimenez as members of the Vatican’s communications arm, the Holy See announced April 9.
In a statement, the Vatican said the three Filipino church leaders were named to the Dicastery for Communication, the central body overseeing Vatican media, press relations, and digital communications.
Tagle, who currently serves as pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, adds the new role to his growing list of assignments in the Roman Curia. This marks his eighth dicastery membership, alongside posts in offices handling liturgy, interreligious dialogue, culture and education, legislative texts, and Eastern Churches.
Maralit, bishop of San Pablo in Laguna, also heads the Office of Social Communications of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences, while Jimenez serves as archbishop of Agaña in Guam.
Also appointed to the dicastery were several cardinals and bishops from Africa, Europe, and Latin America, reflecting the Vatican’s global communications leadership structure.
