Police destroy ₱11.4 million worth of marijuana plants in Kalinga

Police destroyed ₱11.4 million worth of marijuana after discovering and burning more than 57,000 plants.

The two-day operation, conducted from September 28 to 29, was carried out jointly by the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Barangay Loccong.

On the first day, authorities uprooted and burned over 33,000 plants worth ₱6.6 million. The following day, another 24,000 plants valued at ₱4.8 million were discovered and destroyed.

PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operation sent a clear message: “Hindi kami titigil. Ang PNP ay tuloy-tuloy na dudurugin ang mga nagtatanim at nagkakalat ng droga para mailigtas ang kabataan at komunidad mula sa bisyo at krimen.”

Authorities stressed that under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., there is no safe place for illegal drugs.
