Police arrested a 27-year-old tattoo artist in Barangay Poblacion 1, Coron, after he was linked to a robbery incident and later found in possession of suspected illegal drugs on Monday, September 8, at 11:50 a.m.
The Palawan Police Provincial Office (PalPPO) said the case began when the victim, a 32-year-old resident of Barangay Bintuan identified only as Raul, reported to the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) that the compartment of his Yamaha NMAX motorcycle had been forcibly opened.
He said his bag containing ₱11,000 cash, a pair of ear pods, identification cards, and other valuables was stolen.
PalPPO claimed that investigators in town said the immediate report from the victim allowed personnel of the TPU and Coron Municipal Police Station (MPS) to respond quickly.
The suspect, identified only by his alias Cadoy and a resident of Barangay Poblacion 1, was later spotted walking in the same barangay.
During a body frisk, authorities recovered the victim’s belongings in his possession. Police also confiscated two heat-sealed sachets containing suspected shabu and two pieces of folded aluminum foil.
The seized drugs weighed about 0.9 grams, with an estimated market value of ₱1,260.
PalPPO said the suspect was arrested not only for robbery but also for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He was brought to Coron MPS for proper documentation and filing of charges.
