The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) Staff is set to host a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Youth Camp in Barangay Irawan to educate young people on the provisions of environmental laws.
In a Facebook post, the PCSD Staff said the SDG youth camp is going to be done after a series of visits they conducted in primary and secondary schools in the province.
It said the youth camp is slated on October 18-19 with about 60 students from six different high schools registering to participate.
Ma. Christina Dalusung-Rodriguez, chief of the PCSD Environmentally Critical Areas Network (ECAN) Education and Extension Division, said in the post that the upcoming camp aims to raise the next generation as Palaweños who practices greener and more sustainable lifestyles.
“This year, our office is intensifying our efforts to reach out to students and open their eyes to the environmental threats in the future—their future. And we want to let them know that they can do something about it, we want to empower them,” Rodriguez said.
Activities are designed to help students appreciate the human and nature relationship, Palawan’s ecological significance, and their active roles in achieving the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
The camp is in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded Protect Wildlife.
