The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) donated 30 chainsaw units to the provincial government and local agencies in a turnover ceremony on January 31 at the PCSD Office in Barangay Sta. Monica.
The PCSD said the chainsaws were previously confiscated “from individuals operating without the necessary permits.”
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) received five chainsaw units for agricultural activities, while the Provincial Economic Enterprise Development Office (PEEDO) received one unit for use in managing Calauit Safari Park.
Other recipients included Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMO), the Philippine National Police Maritime Group, Naval Intelligence Force West, Western Command, the Marines, and the National Power Corporation.
The donation supports agencies in enforcing regulations on logging practices in the province. PCSD officials stated that providing equipment to these agencies helps in resource management and conservation efforts.
The chainsaw units will assist government offices and law enforcement agencies in monitoring, emergency response, and environmental management. PCSD said it continues to work with agencies to implement policies that support forest protection and resource use.
