The Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) has extended the deadline for submission of entries to its online art competition Month of the Ocean from May 24 to May 29.

The art competition is a partnership project of the PCSD and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) in line with the celebration of Month of the Ocean.

Interested participants have been advised to send an inquiry to the PCSD through a private message on its official Facebook page.

The winners are expected to be announced on May 31 and their works will be exhibited online.

The program aims to highlight the importance of conservation, protection, and sustainable management of the Philippines’ coastal and marine resources.

The PCSD is the primary implementing body for all Month of the Ocean activities for Palawan

This year’s theme, “Para sa Tao: Protected Areas for a Protected Future,” aims to highlight the importance of the PCSD partnering with local government units (LGUs) to create more marine protected areas (MPAs) in Palawan.

“This year’s theme is particularly important because the PCSD wants to highlight the importance of helping Palawan LGUs in the creation of their respective MPAs. Gusto namin na i-highlight ang creation of MPAs as crucial to protecting our marine resources as well as food security ng mga tao,” PCSD spokesperson Jovic Fabello said.
