PBBM urges PCSO to uphold support for Filipinos in need

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to continue prioritizing its mission of aiding vulnerable Filipinos, emphasizing integrity and compassion as guiding principles for the agency’s work.

He made this statement during the PCSO’s 90th anniversary celebration on Wednesday.

“I call upon everyone at PCSO to remember the heart of what you do. Continue upholding integrity, benevolence, and excellence,” said Marcos, underscoring the agency’s long-standing role in providing support to those in need.

The President hailed the PCSO as an enduring institution, describing it as a “beacon in times of darkness” for countless Filipinos.

“Nine decades—almost a century of hope, a lottery of chances, and a whole lot of dreams funded, healed, and realized,” he remarked.

He acknowledged the PCSO’s legacy of fostering change and serving as a source of relief, crediting its work as “uniting the power of chance with the power of purpose, creating not just a system of funding, but a helping hand for Filipinos in need.”

President Marcos commended PCSO’s various programs, including the Medical Assistance Program, Institutional Partnership Program, and the Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program, each of which has made significant impacts on Filipino communities. Highlighting the agency’s milestone celebration, he noted the PCSO’s recent donation of 90 ambulances, known as patient transport vehicles (PTVs), which aims to serve Filipinos in remote and disadvantaged regions.

The President also pointed to PCSO’s recent grant through its Institutional Partnership Program to the Tahanan ng Pagmamahal Children’s Home in Pasig City, which helps cover essential expenses such as food, milk, and medical needs for children.

“In a way, this is a quiet promise to each child that there is a community standing behind them, rooting for their future, even when life has given them a tough start,” President Marcos added.
