The Palawan Electric Cooperative’s (PALECO) search for a permanent general manager has been unsuccessful, as negotiations on the salary package of the top candidate reportedly failed.

Jeffrey Tan-Endriga, chairman of the PALECO board, said Gonzalo Ong, who was selected among the three candidates, had denied their offered salary.

Endriga did not say how much Ong was offered but in a previous post by the National Electrification Administration (NEA), the starting salary for the position was pegged at P70,000.

He said they are hoping that NEA will again open the application for a new general manager.

PALECO has been looking for a new general manager since Ric Zambales retired in June 2018.

The application for the new GM was opened by the NEA last October 2018.
