Almost ₱5 million in initial damage was recorded by the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) after Typhoon Tino hit the province.
In its report, PALECO said the typhoon caused ₱4,996,518.29 worth of damage to its facilities, including power lines, poles, and other equipment. The figure is expected to rise once the impact of the succeeding Typhoon Uwan is fully assessed.
Repair work is still ongoing as the cooperative continues efforts to restore power in remaining affected areas.
As of 7:00 a.m. on November 26, PALECO reported that 98.66% of its consumers, or 147,252 households, now have electricity back. It also said that 98.39% of barangays, or 244 out of the 248 under its coverage, have been reenergized.
“The Area Operations Departments for Central (Puerto Princesa City), South (southern municipalities of Palawan), and North (northern municipalities of Palawan) are now at 100% restoration status, as power has been restored in all municipalities—although some areas remain only partially energized. Power restoration efforts have reached 98.39% at Barangay level and 98.66% at the household level following the impact of Typhoon Tino,” PALECO said.
The cooperative also thanked its Warriors of Light and its Member-Consumer-Owners (MCOs) for their continued support in the restoration efforts.
